On December 30, 2015, India opened an anti-dumping investigation
into low-ash metallurgical coke originating in China and Australia.
The dumping investigation period is from April 2014 to June 2015, and the industrial injury investigation period includes April 2011 to March 2012, April 2012 to March 2013, April 2013 to March 2014 and dumping investigation period
.
From January to October 2015, China's cumulative export of coke was 7.
564 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.
8%, accounting for only 2% of production, and it is estimated that the cumulative export of 9 million tons
for the whole year.
It is understood that Japan and India are both major
coke consumers.
Among them, India has a serious shortage of coke, almost all of which relies on imports, and its dependence on Chinese coke is as high as 80%.
The main source of India's coke needs is steel, which is used in the automotive manufacturing and infrastructure sectors
.
India's anti-dumping investigation will have a negative impact
on China's alleviation of domestic supply and demand pressure.
