According to the Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association of India, the Indian wind industry is on track to meet the government's 60 GW capacity target ahead of the 2022 deadline, with wind power now exceeding 34 GW
.
Tulsi Tanti, chairman of the association, said, "At the current rate, the wind industry will add 30 GW of new capacity over the next three years, so the cumulative total capacity will reach the target
of 60 GW by 21 years.
" ”
Mr Tanti said the wind industry was currently shifting from feed-in tariffs (FiT) to competitive tenders for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, resulting in a temporary decline
in wind power.
Currently, the industry is on a growth trajectory and has a good order pipeline
.
Prior to the start of this financial year, tenders and planned tenders were issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), with a target set at 10-12 GW
.
The association said the industry is confident
in the government's continued support.
He added, "We are seeing large projects with capacities between 200 and 300 MW, which brings economies of scale at the project level, resulting in cost optimization
through the working capital of beneficiary companies.
”
In addition to wind projects, India hopes to achieve a renewable energy capacity target
of 175 GW by 2022.
