Indian power company Sterlite Power plans to invest nearly $10 billion in the next 3-4 years to expand its domestic and overseas transmission market business

Sterlite Power has acquired a 28.
4 per cent stake in the transmission business held by Standard Chartered Private Equity for Rs.
1,010 crore, thus achieving wholly-owned control of
its transmission business.
Pratik Agarwal, CEO of Sterlite Power, said: "There is a huge opportunity to expand the transmission business in the international market
.
We plan to spend $10 billion on transmission projects
over the next 3-4 years.
”
At present, the company has a total of 15 transmission projects, including completed and under construction, including 13 in India and 2 in Brazil, with an investment of $4 billion
.
As the Indian government's plan to electrify everyone by 2019 continues, the company will continue to have huge opportunities
in the domestic transmission market in the coming years.
At the same time, in the international market, the demand and development of emerging countries have also created conditions
for Sterlite Power to expand overseas markets.
Agarwal said, "In addition to the domestic market, there is huge growth
potential in Latin America, the United States and the United Kingdom.
At present, the company's investment in Brazil has reached a cumulative amount of $1 billion, and several other major markets are expected to have a non-negligible share
in the coming years.
