In the first half of this year, France added 479 megawatts of solar installed capacity, and the cumulative installed capacity of connected solar energy has reached 8533 megawatts
.
Data from the French Ministry of Ecology showed that the new capacity from January to June came from 10,101 power stations, with a total installed capacity of 59% higher than in the first half of 2017, when 301 MW of new PV facilities came online
.
Almost two-thirds of the new connected capacity (323 MW) comes from power stations
larger than 250 kW.
From January to June this year, solar power generation increased by 5% to 4.
6 terawatt hours, and photovoltaic power generation accounted for 1.
9% of the country's
electricity demand.
According to EDF's power development plan, France aims to reach 10,200 megawatts of solar power capacity
by the end of 2018.
By the end of June, the target had reached 84 per cent
.
Of the total 8,533 MW of solar PV parks, about 8,146 MW are located in mainland France and 387 MW in overseas territories
.
The region with the highest installed capacity is New Aquitaine with 2,182 MW; Occitanie, 1,728 MW and Provence-Alpes-Côted d'Azur, 1,189 MW.
As of the end of June, France had 24,116 solar projects with a total capacity of 3,478 MW
.
Of these, projects totaling 918 MW already have grid connection contracts
