IRENA recently reported that the global renewable energy industry employed 11 million people in 2018, an increase of 6% over 2017, which proves that the industry continues to strengthen its role in
the global economy and energy mix.
According to the IRENA report, the global renewable energy sector employed 11 million people in 2018, compared to 10.

Solar PV remained the largest "employer" in the renewable energy industry in 2018, accounting for one-third

of the global total.
