According to a new report published by the Polish Solar Energy Association (PV Poland), the cumulative installed capacity of PV in Poland reached 281.
4 MW at the end of December 2017
.
In 2017, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in Poland reached 281.
4 MW
The new installed capacity in 2017 was about 81 MW, while in 2016 the new PV installed capacity was 101 MW
.
Of the cumulative installed capacity, approximately 107 MW includes installations built by the Green Certificate Program and registered with local energy regulator URE; The remaining 174 MW is a photovoltaic system
installed based on net metering.
Lublin Voivodeship has the largest share of photovoltaic installations with a capacity of about 30 MW, followed by Podlasi Voivoivodeship with 12.
6 MW, Little Poland with 9.
3 MW and Silesia with 8 MW
.
These provinces are all located in the southern part
of Poland.
The Polish Solar Energy Association said that although the PV market in Poland is not yet fully developed, up to 1 GW of PV could be connected to the grid
by 2020.
This will be made possible
by a series of auctions that are being carried out by the Polish government.
The Polish government provides incentives for large-scale PV projects through net metering (up to 40 kW) and an auction mechanism
for large-scale projects.
Under the net metering scheme, PV plant operators with a size of up to 10 kW can refund 80% for each kW of electricity injected into the power system, while PV system owners between 10 kW and 40 kW will be refunded 70%.
As for the auction mechanism, the Polish authorities plan to award about 750 MW of solar capacity
in this year's auction of 1 MW of photovoltaic projects.
In addition, the government is considering holding hybrid wind solar auctions, where solar projects of more than 1 MW may also have a good chance
of success.
Last year, a planned auction that included more than 1 MW of capacity was cancelled by the Polish government because changes to the national renewable energy law related to EU state aid rules were not rolled out
on time.
