Chile's Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT) has revealed that the 13,000km cable designed to connect Chile to Auckland (New Zealand) and Sydney (Australia) will be dubbed the Humboldt

The initial design of the cable consists of 4-8 pairs of optical fibers with a transmission capacity of 10Tbps-20Tbps
.
The contract for the cable deployment feasibility study was awarded
in September 2019.
Subtel Chile expects to complete financing for the project in 2021 with an estimated investment of $388 million
.
According to reports, the construction of the system will allow Chilean enterprises to establish better links
with markets such as Singapore, Japan, South Korea and China.
