Huawei Marine announced the launch of the second phase of its Sorsogon-Samar Submarine Fiber Interconnection Project (SSSFOIP) for the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP
).
Located in the San Bernardino Channel, the SSSFOIP system connects Sosogon (Luzon's southernmost province) with Samar Island
.
NGCP conducted a public tender for the submarine cable project in 2016, and Huawei Marine won the bid
.
The first phase was completed
in 2016.
The second phase of the project, the deployment of submarine cables with a design capacity of 12.
8Tbps, is scheduled for completion
in the third quarter of 2018.
