Ørsted A/S, a well-known Danish renewable energy company, recently said that the Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the North Sea, with an installed capacity of 1.
2 GW, has officially started commercial operation
.
Specifically, a total of 174 Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines will be installed at the offshore wind farm, of which more than 50 are currently installed and put into commercial operation
.
Ørsted explained that due to the sheer size of the project, it will be deployed in phases and put into operation
one after another.
More than 50 wind turbines are already in service, and the remaining 7 MW turbines will be installed this summer and are scheduled to be commissioned
early next year.
Hornsea One is the world's first offshore wind farm
with an installed capacity of more than 1 GW.
At the same time, it is located 120km from the Yorkshire coast and is currently the farthest offshore wind farm
from the coast.
Danish Energy Group and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) each own 50% of
the project.
