At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda unveiled its first hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle, the ClarityFuelCell
, which will be mass-produced.
The car can be fully charged in 3 minutes and has a range of up to 700 kilometers
on a single charge.
On March 17, Honda delivered the first finished vehicle of the ClarityFuelCell hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
.
It is reported that since the 80s of the last century, Honda has been involved in hydrogen-powered fuels, and ClarityFuelCell is its first hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle
launched for the consumer market.
But essentially, it's still an electric car
.
The basic principle is the reverse reaction of electrolysis of water, hydrogen and oxygen are supplied to the cathode and anode respectively, hydrogen diffuses outward through the cathode and reacts with the electrolyte, and the electrons are released through the external load to reach the anode, thereby manufacturing a battery
that stores energy.
Honda will reportedly lease the ClarityFuelCell to the Japanese market in March 2016 and expand into North America and Europe
.
Currently, it sells for $62,800
