According to a report from the US drilling website in Houston on May 3, 2021, Hess Corporation, a well-known American oil company, announced that Hess Corporation recently placed it in the Bakken Shale Scenic Area, North Dakota, for a total price of US$312 million.

The deal is effective March 1, 2021, Hess noted in a written statement.
“The Bakken is a core asset in our company's portfolio,” remarked Hess CEO John Hess.
