Henkel has introduced three new low pressure molding (LPM) materials designed to seal and protect medical devices from moisture, extreme temperatures, chemicals, vibration, shock and other environmental concerns
.
Loctite PA 6732, Loctite PA 6682 and Loctite PA 6951 utilize a mild low pressure process to fully encapsulate medical devices including catheters, tubing sets, connectors and surgical tools, as well as sensors and switches used in medical diagnostic and monitoring equipment
.
All three LPM products have been tested in accordance with Henkel's protocols based on the ISO 10993 biocompatibility standard, including skin allergy testing, with certificates available upon request
.
LPM hot melt adhesives completely replace thermoplastic housings, enabling manufacturers to produce complex and complex assemblies by customizing part geometry, surface texture, color and opacity
.
These materials bond to the entire part being encapsulated, become part of the part's three-dimensional form, and form a waterproof, chemical-resistant seal
.
The cost-effective LPM process consists of three steps: placing the bare part into a custom mold set, heating the polyamide material, and injecting it into the mold under low pressure, allowing the material to cool rapidly for 10 to 50 seconds, then removing the new package and sticking it.
connected parts for immediate use
.
Loctite PA 6732, Loctite PA 6682 and Loctite PA 6951 are one-component, solvent-free polyamides that are solid at room temperature and formulated to allow greater design freedom than conventional medical encapsulants
.
They are green and sustainable from natural fatty acid feedstocks obtained from renewable sources such as soybeans, rapeseed and sunflower
.
No harmful fumes are released during the molding process, and all products are RoHS and REACH compliant
.
Loctite PA 6732 is an amber coloured material that performs well at temperatures from -40 to 140°C
.
Transparent Loctite PA 6682 is designed for temperatures between -25 and 105°C
.
Loctite PA 6951 is a colorless material that performs well at temperatures from -40 to 100°C
.
These new products are part of Henkel's complete line of LPM products for electronic components, power and industrial automation, HVAC and lighting applications
.
