According to the relevant person in charge of China Railway Corporation, the Haqi high-speed railway is an important rapid railway passage between Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, China's northernmost province, and Daqing and Qiqihar cities, with a total of 8 stations, a total length of 279 kilometers, and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour, which is China's northernmost and highest latitude alpine high-speed railway, which can operate
under freezing conditions of minus 40 degrees Celsius.
The Haqi high-speed railway started construction in November 2009, began joint debugging and testing on May 23, 2015, and began trial operation on July 13, 2015.
At the same time, this high-speed railway will be connected to the Harbin-Mudanjiang passenger line and the Harbin-Jiamusi railway under construction, which will build a two-hour rapid railway network in Heilongjiang Province and further improve the structure
of the railway network in northeast China.
After the opening of the Haqi high-speed railway, Qiqihar South Railway Station will become the northernmost high-speed railway station
in China.
