Recently, India's state-owned power company GUVNL has announced a letter of intent to develop a 1GW solar project
in a solar park in the Dholera Special Investment Zone (DSIR) in Gujarat.
GUVNL plans to buy all electricity from the solar park, which Eois will submit
by October 15 this year.
Gujarat Power Limited (GPCL) will be the Didal agency for the development of
the park.
Back in April, the Gujarat government approved plans
for the world's largest 5GW solar park.
The project has been earmarked for a 33 kV/220 kV substation area
.
The capacity of the solar park will be obtained
through competitive tenders.
The assessment predicts that the land area currently selected for solar projects could be submerged within three months of the monsoon, which GUVNL said will add to the challenge of operating and maintaining the
solar park during this period.
Also in April, GUNVL cancelled the auction
of 500MW of solar projects after discovering that prices were much higher than expected.
