Grupo Ortiz (GO), the largest player in Latin America's plastics industry, is investing heavily in its multifaceted plastics processing business despite supply chain disruptions caused by the outbreak in Mexico
.
Currently, the company is building a 40,000-square-meter (430,550-square-foot) woven polypropylene bag production facility in Morelia, western Mexico
.
Vienna-based Starlinger and its affiliates are supplying machinery for the new production site
.
The €15 million investment, which includes four Starlinger tape extrusion lines, including winders, and 200 circular looms for the production of raffia woven bags, will increase GO's production capacity by 450 million bags to 790 million bags per year
.
Machines will be delivered and installed in the fourth quarter of 2021
.

Most of Grupo Ortiz's customers are in Mexico, but the company also supplies to Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia, and intends to enter the US market
