Google's parent company Alphabet wants to use wireless technology to provide users with an Internet connection to their homes at a lower cost than laying cables

On Wednesday, local time, Alphabet chairman Eric Schmidt said at the company's annual shareholder meeting that advances in computer chips and improved directional accuracy of wireless signals have made the cost of point-to-point wireless Internet connections "lower than laying cables.
"
Schmidt said Alphabet executives increasingly believe the technology can provide 1Gbps speeds, comparable
to Google's fiber service.
Google's Fiber division previously disclosed that it is testing wireless technology in Kansas City and hopes to build a demonstration network
next year.
