France's Global Bioenergies and German automaker Audi are launching a new program focused on renewable gasoline
made from non-food scrap feedstocks.
Global Bioenergy has partnered with Audi to develop renewable gasoline
The two companies have been collaborating to develop renewable fuel content
since 2014.
Global Bioenergy said it would jointly study the prospect of converting residue feedstocks such as straw and wood chips into renewable gasoline, preparing for commercialization and testing
with third parties.
Global Bioenergy says its renewable gasoline can be blended into fossil gasoline at a blending ratio of more than 30 percent, and that the blend is suitable for any gasoline engine
.
Large-scale commercialization is expected to not require any specific storage or distribution infrastructure
.
"Our renewable gasoline combines global environmental benefits with reduced CO2 emissions and fewer particles
forming in the combustion chamber.
This product is therefore a concerning solution
to the Paris greenhouse gas targets and severe emission limits for passenger cars.
Marc Delcourt, CEO of Global Bioenergy, said
.
The French company will supply Audi with a batch of renewable gasoline for further engine testing
.
In March, Global Bioenergy announced shipments of renewable, high-performance gasoline additives to Audi ships for engine testing as part of
an early collaboration to develop synthetic fuels.
