Current Current, a new energy division of mechanical and electrical industry giant GE, announced that it will set up solar power systems in 18 sites in 12 states (including Puerto Rico), which is expected to save 10% of electricity consumption and up to $70 million in electricity bills
during 20 years of operation.
Current pointed out that the 18 new solar power systems that will be added in the United States include ground-based systems, roof-type systems and carports
.
Among them, a carport in New York State will be the largest solar carport
in the United States.
These solar energy is expected to generate 614 million kWh of electricity during its 20-year operation, equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than 55,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by about 89,000 cars
.
Erik Schiemann, general manager of Current's solar business, said in a statement: "Solar installation costs have been reduced by 60% since 2010; Coupled with the high energy returns brought by solar energy, there is no reason not to invest in solar energy
.
"Current will provide customers with a complete distributed generation solution that will be rolled out throughout the United States
.
