Recently, GE Energy Financial Services, a subsidiary of GE, announced that it will finance the first phase of the DTEK Renewables BV Primorskaya wind farm on the Azov coast
.
Munich-based Bayerische Landesbank, a leading German bank, led a consortium of German banks, which includes KfW IPEX-Bank and Bremer Kreditbank, to provide senior debt
for the project.
The deal was backed by German export credit agency Euler Hermes, which provided export credit guarantees
for the transaction.
The project was awarded to GE Renewables' Onshore Wind Business Unit, which committed to supplying Primorskaya WEP with 26 of the 3.
8-130-110HH wind turbines and arranging the installation/commissioning of the turbines to power
the wind farm.
The first phase of the Primorskaya WEP is part of
a two-stage process of building a 200 MW wind farm in Ukraine.
Once fully operational by the end of 2019, the Primorsk wind farm is equipped with the most powerful GE onshore turbines and is expected to generate enough electricity to power
the equivalent of about 350,000 homes in Ukraine.
The financing will support subsequent phases of the project and assist Ukraine in achieving its goal of using 11% of its electricity for renewable energy
by 2020.
