According to a report from Russia’s Petroleum and Gas Network on April 30 in St.
The target production capacity of this high-tech graphite electrode plant is 30,000 tons per year, which will meet the increasing demand for heavy graphite electrodes from domestic steel manufacturers in Russia and significantly reduce the domestic metallurgical industry’s dependence on imports.
Gazprom said that the new graphite electrode plant will be integrated into the end-to-end production chain of Gazprom.
The raw material needed to produce graphite electrodes-petroleum needle coke-will come from the delayed coking unit at the Omsk refinery.

Gazprom Neft to produce high-tech graphite electrodes for Russia's metallurgy industry
Gazprom Neft has begun implementing an investment project to develop a cutting-edge graphite-electrode plant in the Avangard Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Omsk.
Target capacity at the plant is 30,000 tonnes per year, which will cover domestic steel manufacturers' increasing demand for heavy-duty graphite electrodes, significantly reducing the domestic metallurgy industry's dependence on imports.
The new plant will be integrated into Gazprom Neft's end-to-end production chain.
The raw material (feedstock) for producing graphite electrodes-petroleum needle coke-will be sourced from the Omsk Refinery's delayed coking unit.
