FRX Polymers, a leader in polymer halogen-free flame retardant solutions, announced that its Nofia brand of flame retardants has received SAFER certification from ChemFORWA.
ChemFORWARD is a leader in creating extensive chemical hazard data and safer alternatives, and has expanded its SAFER program to include raw materials used in the electronics indust.
To accelerate proactive selection of safer chemicals, Apple and Google, in partnership with ChemFORWARD, recently announced a comprehensive set of chemical hazard assessments for phosphorus-based and other non-halogenated flame retardants used in electroni.
While the assessment was sponsored by Apple and Google, this shared dataset enables FRX and initially one of the other flame retardant producers to quickly and cost-effectively assess using existing chemical hazard assessments already populated on the ChemFORWARD platform its trade name produ.
According to Marc Lebel, President and CEO of FRX Polymers: "This designation further strengthens FRX Polymers' position as a globally recognized leader in non-halogenated flame retardants for environmentally sustainable polymers used in A range of consumer and industrial products and applications, including electroni.
"SAFER certification provides a simple, transparent answer to this question, based on hazard information generated by a methodology endorsed by regulators around the world," Lebel explain.
Commenting on the ChemFORWARD initiative, Art Fong, Apple's head of smart chemistry for environmental technologies, explained: "We are proactively driving the use of safer materials and chemica.
Fong added: "Our collaboration with ChemFORWARD has resulted in an easy-to-use database of authoritative chemical hazard assessment knowledge that will help product and design engineers select materials, develop the next generation of innovative electronics, and enable our suppliers not only to meet Our safety requirements, and being able to find alternatives that are safer, better for the environment, and deliver the performance we ne.
