The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other nine departments jointly issued the "Notice on Solidly Promoting Plastic Pollution Control", proposing that starting from January 1 next year, shopping malls, supermarkets, and pharmacies in built-up areas of municipalities, provincial capitals, and cities under separate planning , bookstores and other places, catering take-away services and various exhibition activities, the use of non-degradable plastic shopping bags is prohibited, but continuous roll bags, fresh-keeping bags and garbage bags are not prohibited for the time being

At the same time, the production and sale of disposable plastic cotton swabs and disposable foam plastic tableware will be banned nationwide from next year; the use of non-degradable disposable plastic straws will be banned in the catering industry across the country, but the straws that come with food packaging such as milk and beverages will not be banned for the time being
