industrial giant GE Renewable Energy announced this week at the AWEA Wind Conference that it has secured more than 2 gigawatts (GW) of onshore wind orders in North America this year, with orders for more than 700 turbines

GE Renewable Energy announced at the Windpower conference hosted by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) that it has secured orders for 2,010 megawatts (MW) onshore wind turbines this year, for a total of 728 wind turbines, most of which come from the company's best-selling 2-megawatt product platform
.

According to AWEA, GE Renewables was the leading manufacturer of wind turbines in the United States last year, providing more than 3 GW of capacity, accounting for 40 percent
of the total onshore wind installed nationwide.
A year after the company announced it had installed more than 40GW of wind capacity in North America, GE Renewables claimed it had more than 26,000 wind turbines in the U.
S.
and that its 2MW wind turbine installation would reach 15GW
by the end of 2019.
