French energy regulator CRE has launched a series of tenders for solar photovoltaic (PV), onshore wind and hydropower capacity as part of
a new procurement plan outlined in its multi-year energy plan.
A total of six tenders were issued last week, with a total installed capacity of approximately 1,640 MW, specifically including self-consumption solar (50MW), tender deadline November 26, 2021, ground-based solar (700MW), tender deadline December 23, 2021, innovative solar (excluding energy storage, 140MW), tender deadline October 26, 2021, green building solar (300MW), tender deadline October 22, 2021, Onshore wind (700MW), deadline for tender 26 November 2021, and hybrid wind and solar projects (500MW), deadline for tender 23 December 2021
.
In the tender for self-consumption solar, CRE noted that 50 MW of capacity is offered, but capacity could increase to 100 MW
if eligible projects exceed the initial target.
This will be the first of 14 rounds of 50 MW tenders planned for the end of 2026
.
By 2026, nine more tenders will be held in the same way as those seeking ground-mounted solar projects, each with a total capacity of 925 MW
.
By 2026, 10 rounds of onshore wind installation programs will be held, with 9 rounds targeting 925 MW
.
While the goal for the first round is 700 megawatts, it could also be expanded to 925 megawatts
.
The timeline for the hybrid technology tender consists of five rounds totaling 2,500 MW by 2026, with 500 MW awarded in each round
.
France's Energy Plan (PPE) is a roadmap to achieve the country's goal of increasing its installed renewable energy capacity by more than 70% from 2014 levels by 2030 and making renewables account for 32%
of final energy consumption.
