Fortum recently won a competitive tender process from Group S to supply solar power systems
on rooftops for approximately 25% of Northern Europe.
It is understood that there are 40 commercial buildings
in Finland.
With a total capacity of about 10 MW, the solar power project is the largest supply of rooftop solar power systems
ever supplied by rooftop solar power systems in the Nordic countries.
Finland's total solar capacity in 2017 was around 35 MW
.
Fortum is responsible for project planning, project management and equipment procurement
.
Installation will be carried out
by about 10 ARE's teams.
Installation will begin in spring 2018 and will be completed in fall 2018 (with the exception of a few new sites).
Mr.
Tatu Kulla, Head of Business Development at Fortum, said: "Achieving our vision is to build a cleaner world
.
But it's not easy, and it can't be done
overnight.
Fortunately, this goal is shared by many other companies and communities, and Group S's project to harness solar energy in its commercial buildings is a prime example
of this.
”
The Managing Director of S-Voima said, "The common goal of the entire S Group is to produce 80%
of the electricity we consume by 2025 using our own renewable energy.
Our power plants are at peak times during the summer months, when the sun lasts longer and is more intense
.
In the best case scenario, in the summer, we can produce enough solar energy to meet 100% of a building's electricity needs
.
”
He added, "We chose Fortum to supply our solar power system because its products and processes are reliable and audited
.
Solar power systems have a life cycle of decades
.
We believe Fortum is well positioned to meet its obligations
in the future.
