According to the Russian satellite news agency Washington on October 18, Bloomberg quoted sources with knowledge of the situation as saying that the Biden administration plans to release another 10 million to 15 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve to balance the market and prevent a further sharp rise
in global oil prices.
Since the beginning of this spring, Biden has proposed a plan to release 180 million barrels of strategic oil reserves, and this week's announcement may be the latest part
of it.
Biden previously ordered the Department of Energy to release another 10 million barrels of oil
from reserves in November.
The US government attributed its actions to a reaction
to the OPEC+ production cut decision.
According to reports, US Deputy Secretary of Energy Turk has said that the United States has the ability to release additional oil
from reserves.
