FLOR® is a premium rug brand for homes, offices and every space in between
.
On June 2, the company commemorated a decade of area rugs featuring Aquafil's ECONYL® regenerated nylon , integrating beautiful design, smart functionality and environmental responsibility into all the spaces people live in
.
This premium design brand started using ECONYL® nylon in 2011 and was the first carpet company to start using recycled nylon in its products
.
Today, ECONYL® Recycled Nylon is a much sought-after responsible solution for well-known fashion and interior design brands, and appears on most FLOR area rugs, compared to brand new nylon using new resources
.
ECONYL® is made from 100% waste - fishing nets, textile waste, old rugs, etc.
- that would otherwise pollute the planet
.
Recycled nylon has the same properties as virgin nylon and can be recycled, remanufactured and reshaped indefinitely
.
More than just a waste solution, ECONYL® reduces nylon's environmental impact by up to 90% compared to petroleum-produced materials
.
Giulio Bonazzi, Chairman and CEO of Aquafil, said: "Aquafil and FLOR started working together a decade ago, all thanks to a shared interest in creating responsibly sourced products
.
Our efforts to create a circular supply chain have led to ECONYL® In the development of 2011, even in the early days, FLOR fully embraced our vision and became one of the first companies to adopt sustainable design before it became popular
.
In the same year, they began to convert their existing products to ours yarn systems that create beautiful rugs that incorporate environmental responsibility into all the spaces people live in
.
This is in line with the brand’s ongoing efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of its products, which we have supported over the past decade
.
”
FLOR's use of recycled nylon in its carpets is a key part of its efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of its products
.
Most recently, the company launched a new backing, CQuestTMGB, made from post-consumer recycled content from carpet tiles, bio-based additives and pre-consumer recycled materials that are net carbon negative
.
FLOR combines a new backing with yarns made from regenerated nylon to deliver carpets that look beautiful while being good for the planet
.
James Pope, General Manager of FLOR, said: "As a long-term partner of Aquafil, we at FLOR are proud to celebrate ten years of ECONYL® regenerated nylon in our beautiful, smart and responsible carpets
.
Our sustainability journey is integral to our Our mission – just like the yarns in our carpets – our products are designed with our customers and the planet in mind with carefully sourced materials and a commitment to a lower carbon footprint
