According to Dow Jones news on October 11, Exxon Mobil said on Monday that the company plans to build the first large-scale advanced recycling facility in Texas to increase efforts to reduce plastic waste
.
ExxonMobil said it expects the unit at the Bay City plant near Houston to begin operations by the end of next year, with an initial plan to recycle 30,000 tons of plastic waste a year
.
ExxonMobil noted that a smaller, interim facility has begun commercial production of certified recycled polymers and will be on the market by the end of 2021 to meet growing demand
.
ExxonMobil also said it is developing plans to build about 500,000 tonnes of advanced recycling capacity globally by 2026
.
The company said it is working with Plastic Energy to build an advanced recycling plant in France and is evaluating plants in the Netherlands, the U.
S.
