ExxonMobil recently announced an oil discovery in the Bavuca South-1 well in Angola's offshore Block 15, located at a depth of about 1,100 meters and drilling into a high-quality oil-bearing layer about 30 meters thick, the 18th oil and gas discovery in Block 15 and the only new discovery
in the block in nearly 20 years.
ExxonMobil said the Bavuca South-1 well is part of the Block 15 redevelopment project, which aims to increase production to 40,000 b/d by using more advanced technology and equipment to offset the decline in natural decline
。 ExxonMobil's subsidiary Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited is the operator of Block 15 with a 36% stake, along with BP (24%), Eni (18%), Statoil (12%) and Sonangol (10%)
