For the plastics industry, every bit is important when it comes to minimizing the use of fossil resources, and this now extends to small batches of color masterbatches
.
German Rowa masterbatch debuts a new carbon black masterbatch - EcoPA-B095A BLACK rCB
.
In this masterbatch, the black substance is obtained by pyrolysis, a thermal process in which used tires are heated to between 250 and 750°C in the absence of oxygen, and then decomposed into smaller molecules
.
This process typically produces a highly aromatic pyrolysis oil (≈45%), crude pyrolysis carbon black (≈33%), recycled steel (≈12%) and non-condensable hydrocarbon gases (≈10%)
.
By grinding and pelletizing, crude pyrolytic carbon black can be processed into recycled carbon black and processed as required for masterbatch use
.
The new black masterbatches are suitable for automotive engineering, electronic and electrical engineering, construction, sports and leisure products
.
