The fundamental changes currently sweeping the plastics industry are being reflected in the new logo recently launched by the European Plastics Association (Pan-European Plastics Manufacturers Association)
.
The association says plastics are a key material in fostering innovation, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change
.
However, since any plastic waste in the environment is unacceptable, efforts to reduce plastic waste, promote reuse and increase the separate collection and recycling of plastic waste remain critical
.
Virginia Janssens, managing director of the Plastics Europe Association, announced in a short video that the association will launch a new logo and website
.
“As an industry, we need to constantly evolve and adapt
.
We need to address plastic waste by producing plastic and enhancing its sustainable use in a low-carbon circular economy, and by recognizing the value of plastic waste as a resource in the new economy problem
.
"
The latest news comes after European plastics companies recently called for a mandatory target of 30% recycled content in plastic packaging by 2030, and announced plans by European plastics manufacturers to invest more than €7 billion in chemical recycling by 2030
.
“As an industry, our commitment is to work tirelessly to ensure that plastics continue to deliver and deliver benefits that society values, while minimising its environmental footprint,” added Virginia Janssens, “This includes supporting the EU’s Green Deal and The goal of climate neutrality, and the Paris climate agreement
.
”
“I invite our stakeholders and policy makers to work with us to create a circular and sustainable future for the plastics industry,” said Markus Steilemann, President of Plastics Europe.
changes in its operating environment
