European August MMA contract prices fall for 17th straight month

European methyl methacrylate (MMA) contract prices for August have settled with a double-digit decline, marking the 17th consecutive month of declines, largely due to persistently weak fundamenta.

MMA contracts are settled at €2,105-2,145/t (FWD Northwest Europe destination), with a reduction of €50/t at the front end of the price range and a reduction of €30/t at the back end from Ju.

Global oversupply, falling demand and falling raw materials have all contributed to downward pressure on pric.

Contract talks in September are at an early stage, with talks so far silent on steady to weak targets and price declines slowi.

This reflects an easing of global oversupply related to lower operating rates throughout the year, planned outages and some unplanned issu.

Spot prices have held steady this week, with market participants keeping an eye on higher prices in China as they impact the arbitrage gap between Asia and Euro.
