Telecom Ethiopia has reached an agreement with Telecom Djibouti to enable cross-border telecommunications services
by deploying fiber-optic cables along the railway line connecting the two countries.

According to reports, the 784-kilometer railway runs from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to the port city of Djibouti
through Dire Dawa and Dewele.

This will be the fourth cross-border fibre network connection between Ethiopia and Djibouti, along with two cross-border lines via Dewele and one transboundary fibre line
via Galafi.
