Eskom had previously claimed that financial difficulties could not afford these projects had delayed these contracts for a long time and caused pressure
on the grid.
Eventually the company was threatened by law and is under investigation
by energy regulators.
South African Energy Minister Jeff Radebe said in a written statement, "I am pleased to announce that these 27 renewable energy independent power plant project agreements (REIPPP), including the power purchase agreement with Eskom, will be formally signed
on March 13, 2018.
