According to the World Natural Gas website on May 3, 10 new companies have joined the AquaVentus offshore wind hydrogen production project, including offshore wind power developers Ørsted, Equinor and WindMW, and offshore construction company Royal Boskalis Westminster.

The AquaVentus consortium is developing a large-scale project.

Among the latest groups, the initiative also welcomes certification company DNV, engineering specialist Offshore Wind Technology (OWT), seamless steel pipe manufacturer Vallourec, German Artificial Intelligence Research Center (DFKI), consulting company Buckstay and logistics service provider Karlsson.

From January to mid-March, eight companies have joined the consortium, including EnBW, an offshore wind power developer, and Linde, a hydrogen production, transportation, storage and distribution company.

AquaVentus includes many sub-projects along the value chain, from hydrogen production in the North Sea to transportation to customers on the mainland.

Under the first sub-project AQuaRimims, the alliance plans to install two 14 MW wind turbines, each with an electrolysis plant on its base platform.

In April of this year, the project partners Shell, Rheinland, GASCADE and Gasunie signed a statement of intent to further strengthen cooperation on AquaDuctus and plan to make the feasibility study the next step of the project.
