Recently, EON announced that it has begun construction of a new onshore wind farm in Italy, the Morcone project
.
The wind farm is located in the province of Benevento, a vast area of Naples, and will have an installed capacity
of 57 MW.
The 19 turbines in the project are all from Danish manufacturer Vestas
.
Morcone was the largest project
in the Italian government's 2016 auction.
EON is currently building roads to lay the groundwork for the first wind turbines in the mountains near the
communities of Morcone and Pontelandolfo.
The turbines are expected to be installed this summer, with finally being operational
in early 2019.
In Italy, EON owns and operates 10 onshore wind farms with a total capacity of approximately 330 MW
.
These power plants are located in Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Sardinia, Tuscany and Campania
.
