Recently, Eni has made a final investment decision to build, develop and operate the Badamsha plant, a 50 MW wind farm in northwestern Kazakhstan
.
This project represents the company's first large-scale investment
in wind technology.
Construction of this project's plant in Aktobe will start in the coming months and is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 by the date of commercial operation and connection
to the grid.
The wind farm will provide the region with an annual power generation of about 198 GWh
.
Eni's current renewable energy portfolio includes up to €1.
2 billion
invested in solar, wind and hybrid projects worldwide over the next four years.
The Badasha project represents the first important step
in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Eni, General Electric (GE) and Energy Minister Kanat Bozbayev to promote the development of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan.
Last June, Eni signed a number of strategic cooperation agreements in the upstream and renewable energy sectors aimed at supporting the country's sustainable economic growth

on the territory of Kazakhstan since 1992.
Eni is a co-operator of the Karachaganak field and is an equity partner in various projects in the North Caspian Sea, including the huge Kashagan field

In 2018, Eni became a co-operator of the exploration block Isatay and partnered
