According to a report by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), total energy investment in BRI economies is expected to reach $27 trillion
by 2050.
The report predicts that $20 trillion in investment will be used to boost electricity supply, with the rest going to building grid infrastructure

The report, presented by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) at a side event during the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, says the investment could help create 200 million new jobs
.
During the event, GEIDCO signed tripartite agreements
with UN agencies, governments, international organizations and universities.
Liu Zhenya, chairman of the organization, said that the grand vision of Belt and Road countries and regions is an important step
to achieve energy interconnection.
Liu Zhenya said that the energy plan aims to align with the Belt and Road and coordinate regional clean energy development, while strengthening the power grid construction
of Belt and Road countries.
Global energy interconnection can provide a secure, economical, clean and sustainable power supply and contribute to the local economy, society and ecology
in a sustainable way.
