Enel Brasil, a Brazilian subsidiary of Italian power company, has signed an agreement to sell its entire stake in a 327 MW gas-fired thermal power plant to local energy company Eneva SA, thus becoming a 100% renewable energy supplier
in the country.
The deal, valued at R$467 million (approximately USD 95.
5 million), also includes the payment of up to BRL 97 million for future recontracting of the plant
.
The facility, called Central Geradora Termeletrica Fortaleza, is located in the Pecem Industrial and Port Complex in the state of Ceará
.
The company said the sale was part of Enel's carbon neutrality plan, which aims to achieve zero emissions by 2040 and triple its global renewable energy capacity by 2030
.
Enel expects to close the transaction in the third quarter of 2022 as it is subject to certain precedent conditions, including approval by the antitrust regulator CADE and the internal governance bodies of the parties and their shareholders
