this year.
The announcement comes a day after the new World Bank Managing Director Malpass visited the 37-square-kilometer photovoltaic solar park, which will be one of
the largest solar facilities in the world.
Commenting on energy sector reforms aimed at boosting the country's economic development, Malpass said: "Egypt's reform of the energy sector has opened the door
to strong investment by the private sector.

Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation of Egypt, said: "The Benban Solar Park is taking unprecedented steps to create a modern legislative framework
that attracts foreign investment.
”
The solar park, which is expected to be fully operational by mid-2019, will help Egypt meet 22%
of its domestic energy needs by using renewable energy by 2020.
