Egypt Telecom has signed a $45 million submarine cable landing agreement
with PEACE International Submarine Cable Company and PCCW Global, the international operating arm of Hong Kong Telecom.
Egypt Telecom said the move means that Egypt Telecom's submarine cable network will add a new path to further improve Egypt's international Internet connection

According to reports, the PEACE fiber optic cable system will cross Egypt through a diversified land path between the Zafarana and Aboutalat cable landing stations, for which Egypt Telecom will provide state-of-the-art landing facilities
.
According to the plan, the first phase of the PEACE submarine cable system will connect Pakistan, Djibouti, Somalia and Kenya, and the second phase will expand southward to Africa and Europe
.
The 12,000-kilometer-long submarine cable system, which was built by Huawei Marine and supplied by Hengtong Group, is scheduled to be completed
in the first quarter of 2020.
