Recently, Egypt announced that it will build a 500 MW wind power plant
in the Gulf of Suez.
The agreement was signed
by Egypt's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy with representatives of companies including Orascom Construction, Engie and Toyota Tsusho Corporation.
Egypt's power minister said the project has an estimated cost of $650 million and is expected to generate about 2 billion kilowatts of energy
per year.
The minister also said that the project is expected to save fuel and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions

He stressed that this is within the framework
of the country's efforts to diversify electricity resources and use Egypt's natural resources.
The minister added, "This includes increasing the use of renewable energy to more than
37% by 2035.
