Egypt plans to build a $2.33 billion wind farm project

Egypt's power ministry is reportedly in talks with a number of international companies to execute wind farm projects with a capacity of up to 1,800 megawatts at a cost of about 2 billion euros
.
The wind farm project is expected to be implemented
under the Build, Own and Operate (BOO) program.

According to official sources, investors will raise funds for these projects, while the Ministry of Electricity will buy the electricity
generated.
They said the projects include partnering with Elsewedy Electric to build a 600-megawatt wind farm
under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) program.

The ministry is also negotiating with Gamesa Spain to build a 120 MW wind farm, a Saudi Arabian company to build a 120 MW wind farm, and a European entity to build a 500 MW wind farm

The ministry is preparing bids
for other 460 MW projects for international and local companies.

It is understood that Egypt's total wind power generation is about 1010 MW, which has increased by about 460 MW after 2014
