Australian renewable energy and storage developer Edify Energy has secured a power purchase agreement
for part of the production of a 275MW Darlington Point solar farm in New South Wales.
Under the power purchase agreement, Edif Energy will supply electricity and large-scale generation certificates to Delta Energy, enabling utilities to meet their obligations under Australia's renewable energy targets while expanding and diversifying their generation portfolio
.
The Darlington Point solar farm, located near Griffith, New South Wales, was approved last week and now that the PPA is in place, its developers are expected to achieve financial settlement and commence construction shortly thereafter, with completion expected in early 2020
.
Once completed, the plant is expected to generate 685,000MWh of electricity per year, with Edify Energy planning to add battery storage facilities
at a later stage.
The CEO of Edify Energy said, "This PPA is a foundational document designed to facilitate the financing
of one of the largest solar farms in the country.
As traditional and new sources of power work together, focusing on the economics of renewable energy, not just environmental benefits, will accelerate the transformation of the
energy sector.
