EDF Renewable Energy North America and Shell Energy North America have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement covering the 100MW portion of the Palen Solar Project, known as the Maverick 4 Solar Project
.
Located in Riverside County, California, the installation is expected to begin providing clean energy
by the end of 2020.
The site will be developed on 1,270 hectares of federal land within the Solar Zone (SEZ) and Development Focus Area, managed by the U.
S

Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
EDF Renewables' Senior Director, Development, said, "EDF Renewables is pleased to complete the federal licensing process
for Palen Solar.
The 500 MW project uniquely positions EDF Renewables to help load service entities like Shell meet long-term obligations
under the California Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) by offering smaller portions at industry-leading prices.

The Vice President of Shell Energy Americas added, "Shell, as one of the largest energy suppliers in the West, is actively developing its renewable energy business, leveraging our strengths and capabilities to bring us more clean energy solutions
