Singapore's Economic Development Board (EDB) has consulted the industry to explore the possibility
of building a 100MW floating solar system at the Kranji Reservoir for private sector consumption.
According to the published information, the Kranji Reservoir is suitable
due to its large water surface area.
Only a small fraction of Kranji's surface can generate up to 100MW of floating solar energy, but the reservoir is also considered an ecologically important biodiversity site, so the feasibility of the project will depend on the results of
environmental studies.
In addition, Singapore's national water authority PUB will also deploy a 50MW floating solar system
in the Tengeh reservoir in 2021.
