EcoEnergy, Pakistan's leading solar energy supplier, announced that it has received $600,000 in project investment to help 10,000 of Pakistan's poorest rural households provide off-grid solar energy
.
Currently, EcoEnergy said it has entered into an innovative debt financing deal
with social investment adviser SIMA.
It is understood that the funding will help EcoEnergy expand the company's operations and expand the distribution market for smart solar home systems across the
country.
So far, the company has been hampered by a lack of working capital to buy hardware
that meets the needs of Pakistan's off-grid community.
The investment will significantly increase the stock of solar home systems while providing access
to the BBOXX task management software Pulse platform.
Pulse is a cloud-based platform that enables distributed businesses to increase efficiency and enhance customer service
.
Pulse overcomes many significant hurdles for distributed energy companies, such as EcoEnergy's project experience
in Asia and Africa.
These also include managing customers, products, and employees
distributed in remote locations.
The CEO and Managing Partner of SIMA Funds said, "We think Pakistan has great promise for the off-grid solar sector, where much of the market remains untapped
.
Pakistan's solar market is indeed larger
than Kenya and Tanzania combined.
”
The CEO of EcoEnergy added, "There are about 70 million people across Pakistan who do not have access to electricity
.
This is a serious impediment to social and economic development
.
To determine the best way to meet their energy needs, we are working to gain a deeper understanding of off-grid rural communities in Pakistan
.
SIMA's work with us will provide us with the tools and services we need to expand the number of
customers we can reach in Pakistan.
Our goal is to add 10,000 households
by the end of 2018.
