Duke Energy has revealed that between 2017 and 2026, the company will spend $25 billion on grid modernization investments and $11 billion on expanding renewable energy and natural gas generation
.
The company said it will use the investment to create a modern grid based on smart grid technology while promoting more renewable energy grids to the

Duke Energy also plans to target underground cable laying to prevent extreme weather

In addition to grid modernization projects, the company will focus heavily on creating new natural gas fuels, wind and solar power

The North Carolina-based electric utility also outlined steps to provide more clean energy to customers, as part of
the ongoing transformation of the utility industry.
In its new climate report, Duke Energy has detailed its ability to adapt to a low-carbon future to mitigate risks posed by climate change, reduce emissions and explore policy uncertainty

The company said it will continue to modernize its business structure and by 2030, it expects more than 80% of its generation mix to consist of
zero carbon emissions and lower CO2 emission sources.

expanding its nuclear operating licenses.
