Duke Energy has completed a new 74.
9 MW Hamilton solar power plant project in Jasper, Florida, and the new installation is already in operation
.
The energy generated by the project will be able to power
more than 20,000 homes at peak production.
The installation is part of
Duke Energy's strategic commitment to install 700 megawatts of solar in Florida by 2022.
DEF currently owns and operates nearly 100 MW of solar resources
within its regulated service area.
Construction of the project began in July 2018 and went live
on December 22, 2018.
With Jasper's 74.
9MW project, DEF announced plans to begin work
in 2019 at the Columbia Solar Farm in Fort White, Florida.
While it will be developed by Core Solar, DEF will own, operate and maintain the 74.

The Colombia project will be completed
in March 2020.
