The Dow Company (DOW) has developed and commercialized a new post-consumer recycled (PCR) formulated resin designed for heat shrink film applications in the Asia Pacific region
.
The Dow Company (DOW) developed and commercialized a new post-consumer recycled (PCR) formulated resin
.
The new resin contains 40% post-consumer recycled material and can create films with properties similar to virgin resins
.
Bambang Candra, vice president of commercial Asia Pacific for Dow's Packaging and Specialty Plastics business unit, said: "This new resin helps enable a circular economy for plastics and meets the performance needs of brands and consumers
.
With the growing demand for e-commerce, durable, efficient packaging can protect products throughout the supply chain and minimize waste for consumers
.
At the same time, it also reduces waste plastics in the environment, realizing the dual benefits of economy and environmental protection
.
The resin can be used in 100% of the middle layer of heat shrinkable film, so that the content of recycled material in the overall shrinkable film structure can reach 13%-24%
.
Suny Markose, Commercial Director, Recycling, Asia Pacific, Packaging and Specialty Plastics, Dow, said: "Developing new end markets for waste plastics can help incentivize the recycling of waste plastics, allowing more recycled plastics to be redeveloped and reducing plastic waste.
